Nimis and Year-Mark!

Hejsaan allihopa! Wow this week was such a good one. :) We had such an adventure of a P-Day last week with some of the skåne missionaries. We went to a place called Nimis where this man built these huge drift wood castles for people to climb up. We met up with the Malmö missionaries and explored all around together. It was beautiful! After we had a nice swedish dinner with familjen Svensson! My friend Sissa's family! :) So cute to see her house and be with her parents. We played a little scripture game and ate apple dessert.

The next day we had lunch with the sweet Helmstads. The lived in the cutest little cottage with a nice oceanview. Brother Helmstad was the old bishop in Helsingborg! Him and Cecilia are so adorable. Cecilia likes to paint so it was fun seeing all her artwork around the house and to talk to her about painting. The house they live in was Cecilia's grandma's so it's so adorable and vintage. We were dying it was beautiful.

We called a lot of old investigators and tänkbara undersökare (potential investigators) this week who's numbers were still on the phone. One of them agreed to meet with us! His name was Jurgan and was from Albania and Italy. We met with him and said he was a strong believer in God and Christ and wanted to find truth. He came to the right place. ;) We taught about Mormons Bok and prophets and he was fascinated. It was a spiritual lesson.

This week at district meeting we talked about how we can best find people to teach. We agreed the best way is through the members referring their friends to us. It is so true! Members are the best missionaries. We then did a little grab-bag (game) and since it was me, Syster Campbell, and Äldste Banks year-mark-afton, for lunch we did a little burning ceremony of our old skirts/shirts to symbolize a year finshed. :) So crazy, doesn't feel real.

We found out this past week Syster Eldridge will be training!! Woohoo! We are so excited for her. :) But sadly, that means our tripan is coming to a close and me and Syster Campbell will probably be getting the boot out of Helsingborg. I love them so much and it has been a dream with them here. Sad to be leaving Helsingborg so soon but wherever I go next will be wonderful.

Syster Eldridge headed up to Stockholm for a trainers meeting for the day so it was just me and Campbell. Felt weird being back to two! We visited one of our bestie members Bonnie. :) She invited us over to come teach her husband Rex who has sparked an interest in the gospel! So stoked. We taught him the restoration and we asked him how he felt after and he said, 'Like warm in my heart, like crying.' We told him that was the spirit. It was just perfect having Bonnie there too to add her testimony to everything we taught. They thanked us so much after the lesson and said they wanted to adopt us. ;)

We had our usual dinner with the Malmstens this weekend too. We waited in the living room while Christer was finishing up the dinner and then all of a sudden he comes out with 5 pairs of glasses and an accordion and starts singing a show for us lol. It was wonderful and we cracked up and gave him an encore.

Sunday was underbar som alltid! Vi sjöng i kyrkan och det kände så stark med anden. We sang 'I Know that my Redeemer Lives' på svenska and it was so cute seeing the choir director tear-up. Me and Syster Campbell bore our testimonies as well. We sat next to Alicia Ocasio too and she drew this amazing picture of me and her. ;) I promised her we would go on a roadtrip someday after my mission and go to some fun concerts together since we love the same music.

After church we had dinner at the Wikströms. They were telling us about their fun trip to America this summer with the Bengstens. :) I said maybe I'll see them while they stop in California! We then all drove over to the Bengstens for this little dessert party for the Svensson's for their new calling in the temple presidency in Denmark Köpenhamn! So excited for them. :) We played Uno with the Helmstads and Robin and the Elders.

I alla fall, den här veckan har varit underbar! I can not believe it has been a year since I first stepped into the doors of the MTC not knowing how much would happen to my life in this short year of time. Dedicating this time in my life to the Lord has been one the greatest things I have ever done. He has been here everyday with me. I can't even describe how blessed I feel. Jag älskar evangeliet och allt der gör för andra. Det stor i Mosiah 2:17, 'And Behold, I tell you these things that ye may learn wisdom, that ye may learn that when ye are in the service of your fellow beings ye are only in the service of your God.' It seriously is true happiness serving others. I love you all and have a fantastic Halloween.

Syster Davis

Systers Conference!

Hello! This week was quite eventful. We decided to do a little distrikt shopping party in Väla on monday. It was really fun and we got some bread samples. After we had some dinner at IKEA and then finished the night with some nice trackting. Everything was portcoded but the last door was opened so we got in a complex right before we were about to freeze. :)

This week was very special too because we got to head up to Stockholm for Systers Conference! We took a long 6 hour train up there and stayed with the Stockholm Systers for the night. :) It was fun to be back in Stockholm and fun to see them start putting up the christmas lights!

We arrived at the conference and there were so many reunions it was great. I got to see my trainee Syster Matwaychuk and my little missionary niece Syster Trotter! ;) This mission is just a huge family. We had so many hugs and laughs together. The theme for this one was princesses! Vad gulig lol. It was adorable and like always, Syster Beckstrand went all out. We had different rotations that the senior couple systers put on for us. Each station had a princess theme and they related the princess story to our lifes as daughters of a heavenly father. My favorite was Mulan and how we can be warriors through the hard times. We had a delicious lunch and the assistants were there as our butlers haha. It was such a fun day. Love my syster friends here. :)

The next day we had distikt meeting and the ZLs Ä Backman and Frankman came today. They shared some really cool scriptures with us. I liked the Acts 5:41 one which talked about being persecuted for Christ's name. That's something that has been a huge for me my whole mission. Remembering that scriptures makes me so happy, no matter how much the adversary comes in our way, we'll never stop doing what we're doing. It was fun to talk all together and then we got chinese food after and played 2 truths and a lie.

We went over to Bonnies house this week too! She invited us over for dinner and showed us her huge movie collection. She is such a sweetheart and made us this really yummy swedish cake too. ;)

We got to go on splits with Syster May this week too! We tripan'ed it. Me, May, and Campbell. It was fun to be together and remember all the fun times we had just a year ago. We were missing our favorite Syster Hall though! Weird to see how far we've come and how a year ago we barley knew a lick of Swedish and now we were here teaching the people on the street in it. :) We had some pasta at the Malmstens too again this week. Alltid bra.

On Sunday was the primary program and since there are only 6 kids they asked us sisters missionaries to help sing. Absolut! It was so emotional to sing these songs I remember as a little kid. Us and the elders did a little musical number too to 'Come Thou Fount' in swedish. :) It actually turned out really great and lots of people came up to us after thanking us. It was such a great spirit all day. We met with Alan later in the evening and watched The Restoration movie with him. He had so many great questions and he would pause it throughout and discuss about Joseph Smith and his life and the sacrifices he made for the gospel.

It was such a great week and weird to think next week will be my year mark. Tiden går fort. Älskar att vara här och att vara här varje dag för min frälsare. :) Älska er och vi hörs!

Med Kärlek,
Syster Davis

Oktober chills

Hej hej! Well the church computers weren't working this week so we have 30 minutes at the library woot woot. P-Day was fun last week. We just did some arts and crafts at the church with the elders since it was pouring rain. We made some Thai food too so that was fun. :) We have a happy little missionary family here in Helsingborg.

We had a lot of great lessons this week. Met a lot of new tänkbara undersökare, the yewj. We swungby this family too but they weren't home so we wrote them a note and got godis for dinner. Got some letters from my mama too! Love hearing from her and miss her everyday.

The Beckstrands came down for interviews so it was fun chatting with them. Syster Beckstrand is the best she told us all these funny stories and bought us all muffins and apples. She's like our mom away from home.

I had a really bad headache this week too so that was jobbigt (suckish). Not fun feeling under the weather. A few of us have had been a little sick lately but we keep strong, especially in the cold weather coming! We love the beautiful fall that is upon us. :)

We saw our friend investigator Gabriel at work so that great! He is such a joy and said running into him made his day.

We played soccer this week too with the elders and Daniel and his friend. It was freezing so we bundled up in many layers. It was fun though, Daniel and his friend are pretty skilled. There was a herd of sheep running around too so that was kinda magical. Only in sweden lol. We got pizza after too for dinner and there was a perfectly nice pizza someone left on the table to throw away so Daniel looked around and snatched it when no one was looking haha.

Sunday was good too. We are in the primary program to help sing so we were there for the practice. After church they had a funeral for this man Sven who just died. It was a beautiful service and lots people came. After Sejia Bentgsten invited us over for dinner. :) I told them I knew Tiffany and Robert Davis and she was so excited! She brought out her photoalbum book and showed us all the pictures of them on their mission. :) Soo cute! She told us that they were going to come stop by and say hi to them next summer for a roadtrip. Fun stuff. :) Said maybe I'll come say hi too. Love the Bengtstens so much.

Anywho, this week was good. Sorry this letter is very rushed but pretty much sums it up! Hope you have a great week and ha det såå bra!

Syster Davis

Fun in Malmö!

Hallå again! Another wonderful week here in the land of Skåne. :) For P-Day we decided to go to Malmö and play some volleyball with our new zone. Before we arrived to the chapel, Syster Campbell showed us this beautiful pier right by the church! It was breathtaking and so windy. Love life here. Took some fun pictures and then hit up the volleyball courts.

We met with our golden investigators this week as well. Alan, who is just amazing, told us he has been hooked on Mormon Tabernacle Choir and has been listening to it non-stop. :) Så härligt. He says it makes him feel so peaceful. We agreed and listened to 'Consider the Lilies' at the end of our lesson.

We did some contacting this week too. Met a lot of interesting people and starting to pick up on Skånish. ;) You start to love it more and more everyday. We met this sweet lady from Poland who was very interested in meeting again. So fun meeting people from all around the world everyday. We also saw our investigator Gabriel who yelled, 'Surprise!' when we saw him lol. We also had ward council this week too so that was great meeting some new members! It was cinnamon roll day so we had those at the end too. :)

Our little tripan is such a dream. Syster Campbell and Syster Eldridge literally feel like my sisters and we are constantly laughing and joking all the time. :) Love them so much! We swung by this ladies house out in the boonies of Helsingborg and found the cutest little neighborhood som finns! We kept reminiscing on how lucky we are to be here. Sadly the lady wasn't home so we wrote a nice letter in Swedish and hopefully she calls us. :)

We watched the last session on conference this week too! So fun hearing Äldste Redlunds talk about him as a little boy in Göteborg. We appreciated that a lot and Äldste Adcox made us all some german pancakes for dinner so that was nice too.

Zone training was this week too! We got to head down to Malmö again and see so many good friends!! Got to see my favorite McClatchie again so that was fun! We got to listen to Äldste Backman and Frankman's and Syster May and Jackson's training. :) It was about not just 'getting through the mission' but learning to love each day and making our time count while we are here. I loved that and we learned a lot about kärlek too and how it motivates us. How when we love the people, we are showing them Christ's light. Such a great training and we all got some Kebab for lunch after.

We had such a spiritual lesson this week too with Alan. He is so ready to be baptized he just has to quit smoking. We had this strong lesson with him being bold and trying to help him quit. He was like okay how about tomorrow and we said how about now? And at that moment he said, you guys are right, he took out his fresh new package of cigarettes and crushed it and threw it in the trash. We were all so happy and we have been fasting and praying for him and we told him we knew the Lord could help him quit. It was a great stund.

Sunday was toppen. I met the ward and us new missionaries shared our testimonies. The sweet Ocascio family invited us all over for dinner after church. They have the 3 cutest daughters. I love talking to the oldest Alicia about Harry Potter, 21 pilots and so many other things we like in common. :) She is so sweet. We had a yummy swedish dinner and then we watched a little mormon message together. The 2 youngest daughters put on a little play for us too so that was cute. :)

Great week all and all and hope you all had a great one as well. :) Love Helsingborg and can't believe this year is almost over. Feels like I'm in a time-machine, love being a misisonary, the church is true! Till next week.

Kärlek,
Syster Davis

Happy Fall! I spy Denmark. :)

Helsingborg Dreamin'!!

Hej hej hej. :) Wow I don't even know where to begin. This week has been quite an eventful one! Transfer week is always exhausting but so adventurous because the next chapter of one's mission is unfolding.

Last P-Day in Stockholm was fun! We had lunch with Kristoffer and he treated us to burgers. Best mission leader. We went to the YSA center after and said some goodbyes and signed some buddy books. Some of the elders brought their guitars and jammed out and sang some songs we requested. We also explored Gamla Stan with our Jakan family one last time together and bid farewell. A few tears were shed but we knew we'd see eachother again someday. :) Gonna miss Stockholm!

Any who TRANSFER DAY. Got all my stuff packed and ready for to long resa (journey)! Thank you to my best friend Syster Matwaychuk for being a pro-packer and folding my endless pile of clothes to fit my suitcases. ;) Love and miss you!

We headed to T-Central and there were tons of missionaries there getting ready for transfers! Fun to see so many old friends there. So happy I wouldn't have to travel alone either! So many of us were heading down to skåne so we had a nice 6 hour train party. So weird to leave but so exciting at the same time. We all kept laughing too at all the great skånish we were hearing on the trains. :)

We finally got to Helsingborg and Syster Campbell and Äldste Richards greeted us. :) (me, Syster Eldridge, and Ä Adcox) It was such a great reunion with Syster Campbell. Our tripan has been the greatest thing ever. The bishop and his family came and picked all of us up at the station and took us to our apartment! They gave us an air mattress too. Such a nice welcoming. Already feels like home here. :)

We got all settled in and have had so many laughs and good times together. We had our first distikt meeting this week also with Äldste Adcox! It was so fun. So happy to have a few of my Stockholm buddies still in my distrikt. :) We made some distrikt goals and played some lära-känna-varandra games. We have a little baby distrikt with Hamstad so it's been fun to get close pretty quick. We agreed we needed to have some real kebab so for lunch we hit up the nearest kebab cafe. It was the best Kebab I've had on my misson.

After our meeting we had a jammed packed day with all these golden investigators and and we asked Syster Campbell where all these amazing people came from?! She was like I don't even know the Lord provides! ;) So great. Some of them came to conference too so that was härligt. We love teaching in our little Tri-pan. We work so well together. :) Syster Campbell has been the best tour-guide too showing us all around Helsingborg too. It doesn't even feel real sometime it is so beautiful. I took a ton of pictures and probably many more to come. I love it here already. :) Perfect time to be here too because all the trees are starting to turn orange. Campbell made me and Eldridge this delectable apple cinnamon pie and we have just been on cloud 9 getting ready for the fall.

We visited this sweet family named the Malmstens as well. :) They invite the missionaries over every week for potatis and korv! (Hot dogs and Potatoes) They are so cute and have the most adorable family. We were asking them about skånish and their son Daniel told us it is like cowboy swedish lol.

GENERAL CONFERENCE was this week too! That was a treat. It seriously feels enhanced when you are a missionary. The talks were just perfect and exactly what I needed to hear. Love watching the sessions live and knowing so much of my friends and family are watching the same thing at the same moment. Uchtdorf's one at womens conference was my favorite. 4th floor, last door. :) Loved it. I loved the one about Helen Keller too and how sometimes we can maybe feel the same when we don't understand or we get frustrated but if we breath, be calm, and listen closely, the spirit will remind us He is always their for us and knows our potential. So great. We had our usual godis and made dinner afterwards with the elders and Daniel. :)

So much more happened this week but it is impossible for me to write all of it. ;) I just can't express how much happiness I've felt down here in the beautiful Helsingborg with my 2 systers just in the past 5 days! Being a tripan has just been so great and I hope we can stay together as long as possible. Love you all and untill next week. Happy Fall!

Syster Davis
